Storing a Cat Water Fountain for Travel or Holidays

Going away, or putting the fountain aside for a while? A little care before storage means it’s ready to go next time.

Clean it first

Never store a fountain with water or residue inside. Empty it, give it a thorough clean, and remove the used filter.

Dry everything completely

Let all parts air-dry fully before packing them away. Storing anything damp invites mould and odours.

Store the pump carefully

Keep the pump somewhere safe and dry. Check your manual for any specific storage advice for the motor or electronics.

If a sitter is using it

Leaving it running for a pet sitter? Show them how to top up the water and give them a spare filter, so your cat’s routine continues while you’re away.

Coming back

Before reusing, give it a quick rinse and fit a fresh filter, then fill and restart.

Keep fresh replacement filters on hand so upkeep never stalls.
